  • Embassy invites Minister and VIPs to U.S destroyer

    On May 8, the Embassy hosted a reception at the U.S. guided missile destroyer USS Barry in honor of Liberation Day and the U.S.-Norway relationship. Minister of Defense Anne-Grethe Strøm-Erichsen and other military and diplomatic VIPs were invited as guests.

  • Three 7th-grade classes celebrate Arbor Day 2008

    On April 25, the Embassy invited 50 school children to the Ambassador’s garden to celebrate Arbor (plant-a-tree) Day. The children showed impressive knowledge levels and creativity in a nature path and additionally helped the Ambassador plant a Norwegian Maple.

    On April 28, the American fighter jet bid was handed over from Ambassador Benson Whitney and Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) Program Manager Tom Burbage to Minister of Defense Anne-Grethe Strøm-Erichsen.

Embassy invites youth to tour U.S. Navy destroyer USS Barry
On May 7, the USS Barry (DGG-52) crew welcomed youth to a guided tour of the 17 year old guided missile destroyer, which is a part of the U.S. Atlantic Fleet and was on a brief visit to Oslo.

U.S. Embassy sends young Norwegian student on summer exchange
Based on an essay contest and an interview, the U.S. Embassy has selected the young student Kenneth Sydhagen (18) as a participant for the Benjamin Franklin Transatlantic Fellows Initiative (BFTF) Summer Institute 2008.
