Election Night celebration in Oslo
November 6, 2012
On November 6, more than 800 guests joined Ambassador Barry White and the Embassy’s three event co-sponsors, the American Chamber of Commerce, Republicans Abroad and Democrats Abroad at Oslo’s Grand Hotel for an extended election night celebration.
The guests, including politicians, business people, students, friends of the U.S., and Americans living in Norway, enjoyed a buffet of American foods, samples of American wine, speeches by representatives from the parties and musical performances.
The 13 hour event ran through the night with die-hard political junkies and other enthusiasts anxiously awaiting election returns from across the U.S.
Representatives from more than a dozen media organizations were present, reporting from the event. Both national TV channels NRK and TV2 reported live throughout the night, interviewing Ambassador White, politicians and others in attendance.
Those that soldiered on through the night were treated to breakfast and a panel of speakers including Ambassador White and Høyre leader Erna Solberg.
Later in the day, Ambassador White joined Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg at NRK’s Dagsnytt 18 to talk about the election result. You can watch that here.
Congratulations to President Obama on four more years!
