On September 11th 2013, President Obama nominated George James Tsunis of New York to the post as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Kingdom of Norway.

The U.S. Senate will now schedule a hearing of George Tsunis, before proceeding with confirmation proceedings. His arrival to Norway will depend on the confirmation schedule and other practical matters.

Mr. Tsunis  is the Founder, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Chartwell Hotels, which owns, develops and manages Hilton, Marriott and Intercontinental hotels throughout the Northeast and Middle Atlantic states.

Ambassador Barry B. White will depart his post in Norway at the end of September 2013.
