U.S. Embassy joins the “League of Green Embassies” (July, 24)
In an effort to do our share in the fight against climate change, the U.S. Embassy in Oslo is proud to announce that we have joined the “League of Green Embassies”. This is a cooperative of American Embassies and Consulates across Europe that are dedicated to pursuing a number of eco-friendly initiatives, and the Embassy has made a commitment to adopting various environmentally responsible practices.
We have already taken steps to reduce our consumption of electricity by for instance encouraging ‘Natural Light Weeks’, increase our recycling efforts, and promote public transportation when on official business.
We believe that preserving the environment is a moral responsibility of each and every one of us, and advancing policy initiatives accomplishes little if we are unable to live in practice of these same goals. The U.S. Embassy is taking that responsibility seriously and we hope our efforts will pay off and encourage others to do the same.
