How to Apply
With limited exceptions, non-immigrant visa applicants aged 14 to 79 are required to schedule an interview with a U.S. consular officer. Interviews are by appointment only. The Embassy does not accept walk-in applications.
Applying for a Visa in Person
Before you can schedule an appointment, you must have completed a visa application (DS-160). Follow these three steps:
1. Fill out the DS-160 visa form online.
2. Print out the confirmation page, and note down the number below the bar code. You will be asked for this number when you schedule your appointment.
3. Click on the link below, and provide your bar code number to schedule an appointment for an interview. You must do this within 48 hours after completing your application.
Please read our Checklist and information about The Interview before you come to the embassy to apply for a visa.
Applying for a Visa by Mail
The following applicants may be eligible to apply for a visa without presenting themselves for a personal interview:
- Applicants under the age of 14 or those aged 80 and over.
- Applicants who are eligible to apply for a visa using the Visa Reissuance Program.
We ask that these applicants send in the required documents and fees by mail. Please see our Checklist for required documents. Applicants who submit their visa applications by mail must pay the application fee by a bank remisse issued in Norwegian kroner or by a check in US dollars issued by a US bank.
The passport, visa (if granted) and additional documents will be returned by mail, and you will be contacted if additional information is required before we can process your application.
Please send the application, fee, and supporting documents to the Embassy at the following address:
