How to use this Website

The Embassy website consists of a Homepage and 5 main subcategories, which are accessed through the links in the banner that runs across the top of each page in the website. Information is organized according to the following subject scheme:

  • Homepage - gateway to the entire website, current news and announcements, daily updated news bulletins, and links to current issues and events

  • About Us - information about the Embassy and its services and links to the various sections.
  • American Citizens - section for American Citizens in Norway
  • Visas - section regarding all relevant information surrounding the Visa process.

  • U.S. Policy - information about all aspects of the U.S., including foreign policy, history, government, society, politics and other aspects of the United States.

  • More information - serves as an online "Information Booth" for those who are not finding what they are looking for. Includes information about publications and online subscriptions, library/documentation/reference resources, Embassy events and happenings, frequently asked questions (FAQs), information resources and services for teachers, and how to use the site and communicate/ interact with the embassy.

In addition to the information that is provided in the main space in the center of each page, section includes navigational links to other pages within the site on the left side of the page. Some pages also have links to relevant internal and external sites in feature boxes on the right. For navigational purposes, a "breadcrumb trail" below the subsection banner indicates where you are in the directory structure.

If you do not find the information you need by browsing the appropriate subcategories, try searching the site by using the search window that is provided in the upper right hand corner of each page. You can also send an email to the Information Resource Center at osloirc@state.gov, but please read the note about email usage before you contact us.
