On January 25, the  American multinational aerospace and defense corporation Boeing and Norwegian Air Shuttle announced an order for 122 airplanes (“737 MAX” and “737-800”).

The new 737 MAX airplane will be the most fuel efficient single aisle plane on the market, with significant reductions in CO2-emissions compared to older airplanes. Renewing the fleet will also make the airline become more competitive:

"Boeing has played a major part in our strategy to develop a cost efficient and environmentally friendly operation with high customer satisfaction. We are very happy to continue our valuable cooperation and we are proud to be the first 737 MAX customer in Europe," says Norwegian's CEO Bjorn Kjos.

Boeing is the largest exporter by value in the United States and this order represents the largest-ever Boeing order from a European airline.
