2009 Summer Institutes for Outstanding European Students (February 18, 2009)
Are you between 18 and 22 and want to get a broad U.S. experience this summer? Fulbright and the U.S. Embassy are offering 6 young Norwegian students a place in the 2009 Summer Institutes!

The Fulbright Summer Institutes for Outstanding European Students are two five-week programs for undergraduate students held in the United States that focus on study of the United States and promote civic engagement through academic coursework and practical activities.
The 2009 Institute program will offer up to 6 students from Norway the opportunity to learn about the United States, develop presentation skills, join in community service activities, refine English language skills, and interact with American students and fellow participants from other European countries.
Individuals from a broad range of ethnic, religious, geographic, and socio-economic backgrounds are encouraged to apply. All program costs will be fully funded by the U.S. Department of State.
Participants will travel to the United States in mid-July and stay for five weeks. Each Institute will take place on a different American university campus, but the program and activities will be the same at both universities. All participants will attend a debriefing and evaluation session in Washington, D.C., at the conclusion of the Institute before returning to Europe.
The application deadline is April 15, 2009.

Application Information
Application forms are available in an electronic format. Applications can be downloaded here. Or you can request an application: please email the Fulbright Commission at tove@fulbright.no.
Along with the application form, applicants must submit their grades and/or transcripts, and two letters of reference. Those selected as semi-finalists will be asked to attend an interview conducted in English. Questions about the program should be directed to:
