7 exchange students chosen for Embassy Video Diary (July 23)

During the 2008-09 school year, the U.S. Embassy will follow 7 Norwegian students who are spending their year in U.S. schools and universities. 45 students submitted project descriptions to the Embassy project contest, and 6 were selected to become our Video Diary students. The selections were made on the basis of the students' submissions, geographic diversity, gender, and the type of school they are attending:

Kristiane Aateigen (17) from Fåberg
1 year High School exchange through AFS to Wauwatosa East High School, near Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Erlend Buflaten (17) from Fevik
1 year High School exchange through STS to Benton High School in St. Joseph, Missouri
Roald Fernandez Cuesta (22) and Jonathan Ronen (22) from Lindås and Haugesund
1 year engineering exchange through NTNU to the University of California in Santa Barbara, California
Caroline Ødegård (21) from Oslo
1 year teaching degree exchange through HiO to Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia
Harald P. Brevik (21) from Fredrikstad
Final year of full BA Political Science Degree at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota
Eli Marie Smedsrud (19) from Oslo
Freshman year of BA in Government and International Relations at Clark University in Worcester, Massachusetts

The Embassy is equipping each of the students with a video camera, and every month, via Facebook (see Facebook Group ‘USAstudier’), we can follow their ups and downs, excitements and challenges as Norwegian students in the U.S.  At the end of the year,  the students will submit their footage to the Embassy. The embassy has commissioned the Senter for Livslang Læring (SSL) at Høgskolen i Lillehammer to produce an information film from the footage.
