Visa Appointment Wait Times
Appointment wait times vary throughout the year. Our online booking system allows you to make an appointment up to two months in advance.
Before making an appointment, assemble all required documents and information for your application. Please be prepared to spend several hours at the embassy - including outdoor wait time - during your visa application. The fewer items you bring to the Embassy the more quickly the security check-in goes for everyone. Storage of luggage, backpacks, suitcases, shopping bags, handbags or items over 28 x 19 x 14 cm (12" x 8" x 6") is not permitted at the Embassy, nor may you enter the Embassy with these items, so bring with you only what you need for your appointment. No electronic devices are permitted inside the Embassy.
If appointments are not immediately available, the Consular Section may be able to expedite interviews for certain categories of visa applicants, on a space-available basis. These categories are:
- students (F or M visas)
- exchange program participants (J visas)
- work petition beneficiaries (H, L, O, P, or Q visas) who need to report to a U.S. educational institution or employer by a certain date, and
- medical emergencies

BEFORE YOU SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT, YOU MUST HAVE COMPLETED A VISA APPLICATION (DS-156) FOLLOW THESE 3 STEPS:
1. Fill out the DS156 visa form online.
2. Print out the completed visa form (3 pages), and note down the number above the bar code. You will be asked for this number when you schedule your appointment.
