Young Ambassadors Leadership Program: APPLY NOW! (September 29, 2009)
Young Ambassadors is a new youth program developed for aspiring leaders who want new challenges and valuable leadership experience. We seek 15 outstanding and motivated high school students (preferably 11th and 12th grade) to participate in monthly seminars/workshops relating to principles of leadership throughout the 2009/2010 school year.
Participants will learn about public speaking, debating, networking, project management and career planning. They will visit the offices of influential companies, organizations and politicians to learn more about leadership and how it applies to different careers. There will also be a mentoring component, which will match a current Norwegian leader within politics, business or organizational work to one of the students, allowing participants to gain valuable experience and guidance.
The Young Ambassadors program aims to encourage motivated students to attain their full potential, whether their paths lead them to careers in business, NGO-leadership, or governmental service to Norway.
The program is being organized by the U.S. Embassy and Norwegian youth who have been to the U.S. on similar leadership institutes.
Depending on the student, some seminars may conflict with his/her regular class schedule, so it is important for participants to work with their teachers and school administrators to ensure their occasional absences do not prevent them from fulfilling all class requirements.
For logistic purposes, applicants have to be located in the Oslo region and be able to come to Oslo for the seminars.
